A long time ago in a rural Pennsylvania community far, far away, Mr. Ron began life. It wasmuch later when he discovered his passion for history, which guides his life today.“I still remember my first introduction to St. Augustine. I collected post cards, along with stamps, rocks, and other things that fascinated me. I received a post card from a relative visiting St.Augustine, depicting the Bridge of Lions. The caption mentioned that this was the oldest city inthe United States (there were a few less states back then). Although history classes in schoolrarely mentioned St. Augustine, with more emphases on the “English” colonies, I never forgotthat post card”.Ron married his college sweetheart, Mary, and together they started a family in New Jersey.
Both worked for AT&T for many years, taking early retirement during corporate restructuring. Atvarious times, Ron has also been a milkman, a jeweler, and a piano technician. They movedfrom New Jersey, to Dallas, and then retired to St. Augustine. Ron enjoys fishing, reading, choral singing, and volunteers with the city archeology department.“The stories in history have always fascinated me, they explain so much of how we got to bewhere we are today. I think it all has something to do with embracing the legacy of the trials andaccomplishments of the pioneers that brought us to where we are today. Their memories andlessons should be remembered. I am in awe of their accomplishments in light of theinformation, resources, and technology they had at hand. It thrills me that I get to live here, andshare these stories of the birthplace of Florida, in fact, the very birthplace of the United States. Some of these significant stories are under-told and must not be forgotten, for the inspiration offuture generations. I would love to share some of this history with you!”
