Your Itinerary MAY Include:
Guide Services - ANCIENT
CITY TOURS guides are licensed
with the City of St. Augustine and
the National Park Service. They will
make your transition into the past
an educational and entertaining experience.
Castillo de San Marcos Fort - The
Castillo de San Marcos, served
primarily as an outpost of the
Spanish Empire, guarding St. Augustine,
the first permanent European settlement
in the continental United States,
and also protecting the sea route
for treasure ships returning to
Spain. The monument completed in
1695, was never taken in military
action.
The National
Park Service now requires a $20.00
non-refundable fee to hold all
reservations at the fort for fully
accredited schools. (Each reservation
is for one group of a maximum of
50 persons ) Upon acceptance of
your proposal, your school must
mail this deposit to Ancient City
Tours in order to guarantee an
interior fort tour.
Spanish Military Hospital Museum – Check
into the Hospital Militar where
you and your students will
learn first hand of the advanced
medical practices of the Spanish
in Colonial St. Augustine.
Old Town Trolley Tours – Sit
back as the driver shares the
history and sights of our Nation’s
Oldest City, founded in 1565.
This tour will help you experience
this unique city filled with
colonial Spanish neighborhoods,
magnificent buildings and a
charm all of its own.
Old Florida Museum - Step
back in time as you experience
this hands-on adventure designed
especially to enhance student
understanding of history. This
place is fascinating!
Your choice of one Program of
the following:
Timucua Indian Program - Enter
a life-size Timucua Indian hut
and experience what life was
like in Pre-European Florida.
This time period features canoe
making, corn grinding, and jewelry
making.
Spanish/Fort Mose Program - Students will learn what life
was like in Spanish Colonial Florida in the Fort Mose setting-the first
free black settlement.
Cracker Program-Explore Florida's territorial
period where the "Florida Cracker" lifestyle
was born. (Each student will take home
one project per program)
Free Time - You will
have some free time to explore on your
own. St. George Street is closed to vehicular
traffic and is lined with 6 blocks of
unique shops and places to visit.
